Merle W. Spickerman

Merle W. Spickerman, 89, of New Brighton, passed away Saturday November 23, 2019 at Providence Health Care Center.

Born May 15, 1930 in New Brighton a son of the late Paul C. and Jennes E. (Caley) Spickerman. He was a veteran of the U.S.A.F. and was a retired crew leader for Duquesne Light. He was a lifetime member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Brighton.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean (Hodgkinson) Spickerman, January 1, 2010, one brother Paul Spickerman and one sister Doris Book.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law Gretchen and Warren Smith, Middleton, PA, three sons Merle D. Spickerman, New Brighton, William M. (Sandy) Spickerman, Rochester, R. Matthew and his wife Joni Spickerman, Mt. Pleasant, SC, eight grandchildren Will, Adam(Megan), Andrew, Nathan, Micah, Arin, Jacob(Christina) and Rachel(Shawn), five great-grandchildren Andrew, Elizabeth, Clara, Eugene and Brent, one former daughter-in-law Gina Spickerman New Brighton, one brother Ralph Spickerman, New Brighton, devoted nieces Sue and Trisha Spickeran and many more nieces, nephews and their families and his faithful neighbor Mary Corliss, New Brighton

Friends will be received Monday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m.  Additional viewing will be held Tuesday from 10:00am until time of funeral service at 11:00am in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 10th Avenue, New Brighton, with the Rev. Angela Smith officiating.

Private interment will follow in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton.

In lieu of flowers the family wish memorials be made in his name to the church or Grane Hospice, 260 Alpha Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
