Milton Jay Scott, 75, of Cabot, PA, formerly of New Brighton, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at Shadyside U.P.M.C.

Born in Jackson, Michigan, son of the late Rev. Emory and Ruth Scott, he was raised in Michigan.  He attended Houghton College, NY, where he met his future wife, Christie Carol Mackintosh.  They graduated from Houghton College in 1964.  His next 2 years he spent in Colombia, South America, with the Peace Corps.  After returning to the U.S., he earned his Master’s degree from the Harvard Business School.  Milton and Christie were married November 30, 1968 in Staten Island, NY.  They spent most of their married life living in New Brighton, PA on a small farm where they raised their 4 children.  Milton worked in finance for many years at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA, and then at Advest, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA. Later he went on to work for the National Fatherhood Initiative.

Milton brightened many lives with his welcoming demeanor, sense of humor, strong singing voice, and boldness in sharing the gospel.  He enjoyed God's beautiful creation both on their 20-acre farm, and when traveling.  He and his wife took a dozen or more mission trips to various parts of Africa.   Many of these trips were through Concordia Lutheran Ministries, where he and Christie served on the board and various committees.  He was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freedom, PA, and most recently of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Cabot, PA.  Even in his numerous hospital stays, Milt was always doing the Lord's work, praying and joking with staff.  Taking a genuine interest in their lives brought him joy and came naturally to him.  He also enjoyed singing, reading, history, and spending time with family: every one of his grandchildren was his "favorite."

He will be missed greatly by his family including his dear wife Christie, sons Greg (Geri) Scott of Southampton, NJ; Jon (Heather) Scott of Mars, PA; Doug (Melissa) Scott of New Castle, PA; daughter Becky (Andy) Maxwell of Flower Mound, TX; sister Doris Scott of Allendale, MI; brothers-in-law Don (Dian) Mackintosh of Manassas, VA; Doug (Jenn) Mackintosh of South Boston, VA; and Rob (Anne) Mackintosh of Advance, NC; niece Tara (Cameron) Tucker of Wampum, PA; nieces Anna, Allison, Rachel, Leigh, and nephew Brian; grandchildren, Sandra, Lucy, Abigail, Nolan, Adam, Marie, Luke, Tyler, and Katelyn, and grandnephews Hayden and Jack.

Friends will be received Monday, November 13 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Avenue, New Brighton and Tuesday from 12:00pm until time of funeral service at 1:00pm in St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Rd, Cabot PA 16023.

Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot PA, or to Beaver County Christian School, Beaver Falls, PA.
