Nancy E. Nemecek

Nancy E. Nemecek, 85, of New Brighton, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013, in her home.

Born June 21, 1928, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late William and Alvaretta Magee. She had worked many years for Kaufmann's in the children's department. In her younger years, she was active with New Brighton Junior Women's Club and the former St. Joseph Catholic School P.T.A.  Her passions in life were her family, especially her grandchildren, Holy Family Bingo, playing the slots and the many travels with her 'Dearie" Joe and the parties with their gang. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of New Brighton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Nemecek, on August 15, 2012, and her sister, Marjorie Claire Rayz.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Paul DeStefano, Silver Spring, MD; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Nemecek, New Brighton and David and Jennifer Nemecek, Center Twp.; four grandchildren, Brian (Kristan) DeStefano, Katherine DeStefano, Grant and Nolan Nemecek; one great-granddaughter, Cameryn DeStefano, many nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com,  where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Tom Kredel, officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.

The family sends special thanks to Stephanie and the women of Heartland for their compassionate care given to their mother.
