Pastor Robert J. Hartman

Pastor Robert J. Hartman, 72, of Patterson Twp., passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at UPMC Cranberry Place.

Born February 8, 1940 in Washington, PA, a son of the late Charles Gaylord and Betty (Boal) Hartman, he was a graduate of Thiel College and Gettysburg Seminary. A retired Lutheran minister, he served four churches during his life: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Brighton, where he retired from after 22 years; Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church; Redeemer Lutheran Church, McMurray, PA and Zion Lutheran Church, Oil City. Bob served on the Board of Directors over 25 years for Passavant Memorial Homes, was a member of the Clown Ministries, dedicated his service to many more organizations and had a profound love of golf.

Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara (Curley) Hartman; a sister, Phyllis Hartman, Winston-Salem, NC; a sister-in-law and her husband, Ruth and Paul Kane, Conway; a brother-in-law, Raymond Schmitt, Mathias, WV; four nephews, Patrick (Michelle) Kane, Mars; Paul (Beth) Kane, Pittsburgh; Rich and Christian Schmitt, Mathais, WV, and two great nephews, Austin and Mason Kane, Mars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Judy Schmitt.

There will no viewing. A memorial service will be held at a time and date to be announced later by the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com.
