Paul A. Kopriva
Paul A. Kopriva, 84, of New Brighton, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Villa St. Joseph, Baden.
Born January 11, 1930, in Ambridge, a son of the late Michael and Ana (Cybak) Kopriva, he was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a sergeant with the U.S. Army and retired from Duquesne Light where he was a foreman with the linemen. Paul was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the United Croatian Club, American Legion Post #19, all in New Brighton, and the Beaver Valley Model Airplane Club and the Air Heritage Museum.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Kopriva, on December 23, 2010; a son, Paul M. Kopriva, on February 24, 2004; three brothers, John, Michael and Andrew, and four sisters, Rose, Kathryn, Mary and Victoria.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James and Patty Kopriva, Bethel Park; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Tim Bell, New Brighton; Patti and Edward Messmer, Stanley, NC, and Terri and Brian Elliff, Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren, Jacob (Jennifer) and Sydney Messmer, Ana and Alex Kopriva, and Paige and Parker Elliff; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Messmer, and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the
Holy Family Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Tom Kredel officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
Members of the Beaver County Special will meet at 10:45 a.m. in the cemetery to provide military honors.
