Rebecca A. (Mathis) Greco

Rebecca A. (Mathis) Greco passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2017, in Marco Island, Fla.

Born September 29, 1955, in New Brighton, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Victor Mathis, Jr. and Mary Ann Mathis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Tracy, and a brother, Victor Mathis, III.

Becky graduated from New Brighton High School in 1973, and obtained her RN license from Lilliane S. Kaufmann School of Nursing. She worked as a surgical intensive care nurse at Montefiore Hospital and a coronary care nurse at Aliquippa Hospital. She worked as a part-time school nurse for the New Brighton Area School District for 17 years. She retired in 2015.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of New Brighton, where she served on various committees, taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, lead youth group, volunteered, and was a former member of the adult choir. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Buddy Bowling, New Brighton Youth Baseball and the New Brighton PTA.

Becky is survived by her husband of 39 years, Joseph Greco of New Brighton, Pa.; two sons, Eric Greco of Kent Island, Md., and Ian Greco of New Brighton, Pa.; one daughter and daughter-in-law, Allison Greco and Melisa Mitchell of Baltimore, Md.; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Carol Mathis of New Brighton, Pa.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Louise Greco of New Brighton, Pa.; brother-in-law, James Tracy; sister-in-law, Mary Jean Mathis, and several nieces nephews and their families.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. in the New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 6th Ave., with the Rev. Scott Berkley officiating.
