Richard L. Sumpter

Richard L. Sumpter, 65, of Freedom, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Brighton Wellness & Rehabilitation Center, Brighton Twp.
Born December 21, 1951, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was raised by his grandmother, Elizabeth Elsie Sumner and Uncle Robert "Popeye" Sumner, who together raised him in New Brighton. He was a self-employed painter by trade and liked building model cars and motorcycles.
In addition to being preceded in death by his grandmother and uncle, he was also preceded by his sister, Kathy Sumner and uncle, Edward Sumner.
Surviving are his two sons, Jason Sumpter, Industry and Jesse Sumpter, North Sewickley Twp., and three grandchildren, Mason Robert Sumpter, and Brandon and Kaylee McLaughlin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family and on our web site.
