Robert H. Gold Jr.
NEW BRIGHTON, FORMERLY OF FREEDOM
Robert H. Gold Jr., 94, of New Brighton, formerly of Freedom, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls.
Born October 20, 1920 in Trenton, NJ, a son of the Robert H. Sr. and Mary Ellen (Whalen) Gold. He was a veteran of World War II serving with U.S. Army as a corporal in the Military Police Company Air Corps in France, Germany and England. He retired from the former Armco Steel Co., where he was a clerk. He was a volunteer for the Pine Run Fire Dept. for many years, he loved his grandchildren, gardening and was Lutheran by faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire I. Gold, in 2003; two brothers, William and David Gold; one sister, Katherine McClellen, and a son-in-law, Richard Curtis.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara and her husband Joseph Allison, New Brighton; Mary Curtis, Columbiana, OH, and Sandra Hoehle, New Brighton; nine grandchildren, Rob, Joe and Jill Allison, Jean (Richard) Kramer, Julie Galeoti, Jessica Johnson, Logan (Janette) Curtis, Heather (Joe) Marburger and Brandi (Bryan) Murphy; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Palmquist and Alice Dietrich; one brother, Edward Gold, all of Freedom, and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. by the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the mausoleum.
