Roosevelt Ferguson
Roosevelt Ferguson, 75, of New Brighton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, peacefully with his family at their home.
"Rosie" as he was known, was born April 5, 1937 in Spartanburg, SC, a son of the late William and Sudie (Bivings) Ferguson. Roosevelt's deep love for all sports was evidenced by his presence on the sidelines, and bleachers of most sporting events throughout Beaver County, but always had his heart in New Brighton.
He was a member of the Laborers Union, Local #833 in New Brighton, and Fraternal Order of Police. His employment included assignments as a Beaver County Deputy Sheriff, Chief Deputy Coroner and a Pennsylvania State Constable. He had been a longtime member of the Second Baptist Church of Rochester and was currently a member of the With Wings as Eagles Community Church in New Brighton.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Matthews) Ferguson of Beaver; two daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria L. and Rev. Kevin J. Lee, and Carol and Adam Arent; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Rhonda Ferguson, all of New Brighton; six grandchildren, Jamaal, Nicole, Kevin L., Kenneth, Adam and Kevin Jr.; two great-granddaughters, Kamryn and Anaiah; one sister, Dorothy Ann Ferguson Williams, San Diego, CA; a special son, Joseph Starks, New Brighton; a special daughter, Joan Arent Ferguson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, their families and many friends.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with his son-in-law, the Rev. Kevin J. Lee, officiating.
Private interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Monaca.
