Ruth E. (Clear) Sams
Ruth E. Sams, 89, of Daugherty Twp., was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Friendship Ridge.
Born August 18, 1923, in Monaca, PA, she is the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Emma (Rhodes) Clear. Ruth was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, New Brighton, and retired from the Dietary department at Heritage Valley, Beaver in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Ray Sams; six brothers, Robert, James, David, William, Herman and Joseph Clear; a sister, Mary Clear; her stepmother, Thora "Marne" Clear, and a daughter-in-law; Carmie Sams.
Surviving are a son; Ronald "Fu" Sams, Rochester Twp.; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Donald Watson, Daugherty Twp.; two grandchildren. Shannon (Curt) Grimm and Anna Marie Sams and her friend, Josh Lapic, Rochester; three great-grandchildren, Kyrel Lapic, Maddox Lapic, and Ryder Grimm; one brother, John Clear, VA.; three sisters, Lula Pittman, Maryland, Ida Bird, FL, and Karen Greiner, New Brighton; several nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com
Ruth will lie in state Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. in the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, New Brighton. Her Pastor, Rev. Jordan Rimmer, officiating.
Private interment will follow in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Ruth's name, to the Westminster United Presbyterian Church.
