Steve N. Matotek
Steve N. Matotek, 88, of New Brighton, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Providence Care Center, after a long battle with dementia and is now with Jesus.
Born August 16, 1924, in New Brighton, a son of the late Raymond and Emilia (Kovac) Matotek, he was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army and was retired from the former B&W Tubular Steel Plant where was in the maintenance department. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of New Brighton, where he helped with bingo at the former SS. Cyril & Methodius for many years and was a member of their Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Turners Bowling League.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary V. Matotek, and a brother, Peter Matotek.
Surviving are six sons, Michael (Jaunita) Matotek, Beaver Falls; Stephen (Valerie) Matotek, New Brighton; Robert (Sampare Lon) Matotek, Ogden, Utah; Joseph (Jeanne) Matotek, Ellicott City, MD; Thomas (Linda) Matotek, New Brighton, and Daniel (Louise) Matotek, Murrysville; sixteen grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Andrew, Joseph, Angela, James, Emilia, Elan, Tommy, Amanda, Eric, Maxwell, Madeline, Jonathan, Nicholas and Hannah; three brothers, Frank Matotek, Beaver Falls; John (Theresa) Matotek, Beaver Falls, and Louis Matotek, Mt. Jackson, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. to provide military honors.
