Susan I. Atkinson, 63, of New Brighton, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born August 14, 1951, in Camp Lejeune, NC, she was the daughter of Naomi (Brink) McClellan and the late Harry McClellan. Susan attended the First Baptist Church, New Brighton, for 23 years and was currently attending the Concord United Methodist Church. Susan had been a daycare provider for many years, and cared for countless children loving them as her own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Gary G. Atkinson, and a brother, Greg McClellan.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a son and daughter-in-law, Broc (Diana) Atkinson, Pittsburgh; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby (Edward) Milnes, New Brighton, and Angela (Douglas) Higby, Slippery Rock; five grandchildren, Taryn and Garrett Milnes, and Jackie, DJ and Tyler Higby; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel (Martha) McClellan, and a sister and brother-in-law, Kay (Gary) Sinclair, Glasgow, PA.
Friends will be received Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 4 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, with Pastor John H. Phipps officiating.
Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
