Sylvia J. (Durr) McClain

Sylvia J. (Durr) McClain, 74, of New Brighton, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, after a long battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born August 12, 1942, in New Brighton, she was a daughter of Jennie (Geissinger) Eakles White. She had worked for Friendship Ridge.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are three sons Harry McClain and Chuck McClain, both of New Brighton, and Roger McClain, Beaver Falls; two daughters, Anita Copper, Brighton Twp., and Lois Frain, Vandergrift; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, David (Sandy) Durr, Daugherty Twp., Terry (Vickie) Eakles, Beaver Falls, Harry (Jane) Smith, Chippewa Twp., Bobby Eakles, Brighton Twp., and Chuck (Lois) Eakles, New Brighton, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore McClain, in 1985; a brother, John Eakles, and stepfathers, Chuck Eakles and Jim White.
There will be no viewing.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. in the Longbranch Saloon, Blockhouse Run Rd., New Brighton, with Rev. Keith Black of Vitas Hospice officiating. A wake luncheon will follow. The family wishes to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care given to their loved one.
