Walter C. Beighey

Walter C. Beighey, 86, of New Brighton, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 17, 1926, in Rochester, he was a son of the late Walter L. and Irma (Mengel) Beighey. Walter was a retired signal man for the Penn Central and Conrail railroads. If not at work he was the jack-of-all-trades for his family, unless it was hunting season.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Beighey, on April 2, 2009; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Beighey, on January 16, 2013; three brothers, John, Herman and George, and two sisters, Lillian and Kathryn.

Surviving are his six children and their spouses, Tom and Gloria Beighey, Beaver Falls; Larry J. Beighey, New Brighton; Karen and Ken Nicol, Brighton Twp.; Walter C. Beighey Jr., Zelienople; Karl Beighey and Sara Hurrelbrink, New Brighton, and Eric and Sue Beighey, Brighton Twp.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:30 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, with pastor Donald W. MacNeil, of the Church of the Nazarene, New Brighton, officiating.

Interment will take place Monday in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

The family would like to thanks the nurses and staff of Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care given to their father.
