William C. Pfleghar, 95, of New Brighton, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Providence Care Center.
Born April 1, 1920, in New Brighton, a son of the late Clyde H. and Katherine (Hume) Pfleghar. A veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army, he was a retired route salesman for the former Keystone Bakery in Bridgewater and was a member of the Beaver Valley Club of Retired Persons and its bowling league. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and a former usher for the church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Schuller) Pfleghar; one brother, Joseph Pfleghar, and two sisters, Ruth Buckley and Dorothy Shuman.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Davis, Greensburg; Kathy and Steve Stramella, New Brighton, and Patty and Bob Moses, Houston, TX; one son, David and Sally Pfleghar, Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Falisha, Adrienne, Melissa, Ali and Kate; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Tom Kredel officiating.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum, Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made in his name to Holy Family Parish, 1851 Third Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Providence especially the 3rd floor Memory Impairment Team for the compassionate and loving care given to Bill.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery Thursday at 10:45 a.m. to provide full military honors.
