William M. Squires Jr.
William M. Squires Jr., 86, of New Brighton, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born October 29, 1926 in Woodlawn, PA, a son of the late William M. Sr. and Margaret (Barclay) Squires, he was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy and then served nine years during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Air Force. He retired from J&L Steel where he was a motor inspector. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #19, New Brighton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Popovich) Squires, August 31, 1992; one brother, Robert Squires and one step-grandson, Juan Sanchez.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Cliff Rickabaugh, New Brighton, one son and daughter-in-law, William III and Vicky Squires, Gettysburg, PA; five grandchildren, Jacob Rickabaugh, Michael Rickabaugh, Polly (Brad) Davis, William IV (Kim) Squires and James Squires; two step-grandchildren, Jesse Sanchez and Jolene Harrison; three great-grandchildren, Elsieanna, Kilynn and Tristan; seven step-grandchildren, T. J., Summer, Kala, Ryan, Brianna, Aubry and Madison; one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Richard Halfhill, Palmetto, FL and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 and 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil, officiating.
Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made in his name to the New Brighton Public Library, 1021 3rd Ave., New Brighton, PA 15066.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday in the cemetery to provide military honors.
