William Robert "Sweet William" Mineard

William Robert "Sweet William" Mineard, 66, of New Brighton went to be with his Lord Sunday September 25,2011 at Montefiore Hospital Pittsburgh .

Born March 14, 1945 in New Brighton , a son of the late William Albert and Ethel Mae (Stuck) Mineard.

He was a graduate of New Brighton High School , where he excelled in basketball, receiving a scholarship and playing quarterback on the football team. Bill was the owner of Mineard's Tavern in New Brighton for many years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Vaughn.

Surviving are a son, Brandon Mineard, Pittsburgh; a daughter, Tara Geiger and three grandchildren, Colette, Olivia and Troy Geiger, all of New Brighton; two brothers and their wives, Richard "Pete" and Barbara Mineard, Gary and Karen Mineard, all of Beaver Falls; several nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave. , New Brighton.  F uneral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Dickey officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park , Rochester .
