Allen E. Sluder, Jr.

Allen E. Sluder, Jr., 73, of New Brighton, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, September 25, 2022, in his home.

Born January 2, 1949, in New Brighton, he was a son of Mary Ann (Day) and the late Allen E. Sluder, Sr.  Allen was a Vietnam veteran having served in the Air Force.  Retired from First Energy with a career spanning 1976-2010, he was a member of Elk County Alliance, Beaver Valley USBC, PA, Oil City Astronomical Society, Presque Isle Lighthouse, Beaver Valley Archery Association, and the NRA.  He was an avid softball player for Smiley’s, Blatz, and the Oak Hill Vets.  He loved animals, the outdoors, looking at stars with his numerous telescopes, as well as his family.

Surviving is his wife of over 40 years, Debora Szarewicz, mother Mary Ann Sluder, brothers Gary (Tami) Sluder and Bob (Gina) Sluder, sisters, Vicky (Kenneth) Chafin and Candy Nolder, special nephew, Dan Nolder, canine companion, Winnie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm, in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave. New Brighton, with Pastor Luke Whipple officiating.

Members of the VVA #862 are asked to meet at the funeral home at 6pm to provide military honors for their fallen comrade.
