Early December of 2022, the Angels sang as Jesus welcomed His faithful servant, Home. Alma Jean was born Nov 21,1919 in New Brighton to George and Rosina (Herman) Alexander. She worked at Columbia Gas until she married Chester Scott. They lived in Chippewa Township before retiring to New Brighton.
Alma Jean was known for her spirit of service. She volunteered with the Lighthouse for the Blind, and the Angel Food Ministries. She was honored as the Volunteer of the Year in New Brighton. Her greatest service was with her lifelong Church, First Baptist of New Brighton. She served as Sunday School Teacher and Deaconess for many years. She and Chester also served as Custodians, where the Church was cleaned with love. You would see them walking home hand in hand when they were finished. There was hardly an activity occurring at the Church that they weren't part of.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Chester, brother Herman and nephews James and Ray Alexander. She is survived by a nephew Ronald [Gail] Alexander, and many cousins, especially Grace Eisenbrown and Roxanne Young who faithfully visited.
Her Church family were also faithful in visitation. A visit with Alma Jean was always a hoot. You never knew what she might say. A special thankyou to Mike and Sue Melvin, who were faithfully looking after her needs to the end.
If you knew Alma Jean, you've been Blessed. If you didn't know her, you've missed something. Rest easy AJ.
Friends will be received Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton, with Pastor Mark Ours, officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Chester Scott, in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton.
