Angelo V. Ganz, 87, of New Brighton passed away suddenly August 5, 2021 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Angelo was born October 5, 1933 in Belluno, Italy a son of the late John and A. Irma Ganz. He was married in 1955 to his loving wife Shirley (Burchett) Ganz and has a son Joseph Ganz. Angelo worked 40 years for the Brick Layers Local #7 and #9, most of those years for Ceriani Construction in which he was most grateful. He was devoted to his community, giving over 50 years of dedicated services to the New Brighton Community. He coached baseball for over thirty years as a coach for Little League, Colts, Legion Ball for Post #19 and New Brighton High School. Angelo also served as a member of the Memorial Parks and Playgrounds for over twenty years. Angelo was a member of the New Brighton Boosters Association since the mid-sixties, serving with Tom Albanese, the late “Hop” Ashton (fondly dedicating 20 years together) and the late Paul Spickerman. He was honored by being elected into the PA Sports Hall of Fame and the New Brighton Boosters Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish, New Brighton.
Surviving are his wife Shirley (Burchett) Ganz, son Joe (Joyce) Ganz, granddaughters Ashley (Benjamin) Schaus and Melanie Ganz, his sister Betty Hamilton, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dorothy (Don) Koble, John (Vicki) Burchett, nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Vivian (Merle) Billig, Bud (Nancy) Burchett, Margie (Jo) Hughes, Charlotte (Ray) Peters and Charles Hamilton.
Angelo was a private person, as per his wishes there will be no services.
