Barbara Shaban Obituary

Barbara Eve Louise Grecich Shaban passed peacefully into her Heavenly Father’s loving arms on 12/12/2021, surrounded by her loving children at St Barnabas Beaver Meadows. Born on Feb 22, 1931, in Fallston, she was the first-born child of Caroline Grecich Bogovich and Grga Grecich.  A gracious, kind & loving Mom; Barbara was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of Holy Family Church, now Our Lady of the Valley Parish. Over the years, she was a member of the Parish Christian Mothers, Croatian Fraternal Union,Lodge 85, American Legion Auxiliary Post 19, New Brighton Croatian Jr. Tamburitzans, Adult Tamburitzans Kolo Group, Mother of Twins, IAAP and received the Secretary of the Year Award by the Beaver Valley Chapter. She displayed card shark skills in her 500 Bid card clubs. She worked for the Giles Company in Rochester, the late Harry Greenblatt, CPA, New Brighton and was the Office Manager for Paul Groth & Sons, New Brighton, until she retired.                             

Mom always greeted everyone with a radiant smile and a loving hug. She enjoyed traveling to Croatia & domestically, always saying, ‘we live in the most beautiful country!’ An avid reader, she always shared her love of books with family & friends. She loved Croatian music, country music, attending theatrical productions locally & afar. She loved the Lord, her children, her family & friends with all her heart.  She always saw good in everyone. She accomplished great things in small ways and small things in big ways. Her role as Mother never wavered. She was predeceased by her parents, stepfather, Frank Bogovich; Aunts Goldie Novosel and Pauline Haramija, Uncle John Novosel; brother George W. Grecich; nephew Daryl G. Grecich; brother-in-law Daniel Marchwinski and cousins Louise Siebel, Zvonko Hrvoj and Dubravka Nezic.  She will be sadly missed by her children, Gregory (Cherion) Shaban of Katy, Texas; Donna Shaban of Boardman, OH and Diana Shaban of Pittsburgh, PA. Granddaughters, Michelle (Ramein) Shaban and Melissa Shaban; Great-grandsons: Sawyer J. Shaban and Lux G. Gerami. Sister, Josephine Marchwinski and sister-in-law Patsy Grecich, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family is eternally grateful for the loving care & devotion provided for their mom, by the St Barnabas, Beaver Meadows Staff and Hospice.

Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton.   The rosary will be prayed at 7:40 p.m. on Friday. Prayers will be recited Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley, Holy Family, New Brighton.  THE FAMILY ENCOURAGES ALL VISITORS TO WEAR A MASK.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.  A Luncheon of Sorrows will take place in New Brighton at the former St Cyril and Methodius Social Hall. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Charities, 5850 Meridian Road, Gibsonia, PA. 15044.
