Betty DeRose

Betty DeRose, 94, of New Brighton, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born February 10, 1929, in Beaver Falls, PA, she is the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Trozzo) Manzetti. She had a passion for many things in her life, including her family, her beloved cat Maggie, playing bingo, reading, trying her luck at the casino on slot machines, watching Lifetime movies, and cooking delicious Italian dishes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. DeRose and seven siblings.

Surviving are five children and their spouses, Bernadette DeRose, Beaver Falls; Janet and Joseph Briancesco, New Brighton; Michael and Sandy DeRose, Parkersburg, WV; Mary and Andy Kurtz, New Brighton and Jeffrey and Lisa DeRose, Salem, OH; 14 grandchildren, Marc, Brian (Brandi), Michelle (Ed), Sarah (Jon), Josh (Brittani), Joey (Brittney), Anthony (Lara), Michael (Stephanie), Nick (Melissa), Amy (Chris), Andrew (Jessica), Carly (Jimmy), Vinny, and Gina (Derek); nineteen great-grandchildren, Jordan, Madison, Karmen, Parker, Leylah, Andy, Lucas, Eddie, Owen, Jade, Elizabeth, Kaden, Delilah, Carter, Gracie, Josephine, Wesley, Gionni, and Arianna; three step grandchildren, Courtnie (John), Kayleigh (Shane), and Aleah; many nieces, nephews, and their families.

At her request there will be no visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Monday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley, Holy Family Parish, New Brighton.

Interment will follow and she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Louis A. DeRose in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
