Duane Dobbins, 81, a resident of New Brighton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center.
He was born July 15, 1937, in Apple Farm, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Hill and Pauline (Vannoy) Dobbins. Duane proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After he returned home, he enjoyed a long career as a professional driver for the Beaver County Transit Authority Dart Services. He was Episcopal by faith. Duane was kind and soft-spoken, and always was available to lend a hand to family and friends. You could always find him at ball fields around Beaver County watching sporting events that involved his grandchildren. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan who rarely missed a Pirates, Steelers, or Penguins game.
He is dearly missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator.
He is survived by his wife, Esther (Bertolasio) Dobbins, and stepchildren, Barbara (Mark) Macuga, Donna (Jim) St. John, Donnie (Lisa) Barnes, and Mike (Dee) Barnes, all from New Brighton. He was also blessed with twelve grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families as well.
Duane was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dean and Larry Dobbins.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, at a date to be announced.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center.
