Emmett Bryant Baker, Sr., 77, of Rochester, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 24, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in August 1944 in Glen Dale, WV, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served honorably in the Vietnam War. He was an avid Steelers fan and golfer. He thoroughly enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his fellow golf enthusiasts of the Blackhawk GC Champions League and Eaton Electrical League at Rolling Acres, his second homes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Delmond Baker (KIA July 10, 1944 WWII), Geraldine (Moore) Schultz, and his step-father, Robert Schultz.
Surviving is his adoring wife, Linda (Edmunds); his four sons and daughters-in-law, Emmett, Jr. and Jenn Baker, Robert and Apryl Baker, Michael and Kylee Baker, Scott and Izumi Baker; ten grandchildren, Bryant, Alicia, Miranda, Emily, Samuel, Gavin, Evan, Ruby, Annsley, and Amelia; sister Sandy (Pat) Napolitan; brother Lee Schultz. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol Edmunds, Bob (Dee) Edmunds, Bill (Kristy) Edmunds, Terry (Gary) Miller, Diane Verrico, Ron (Kris) Edmunds, Pam (Frank) Dodson, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know him. He was the best son, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. A caring and thoughtful man, his boyish, larger-than-life grin would light up any room.
Friends will be received Monday, March 28th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066, where a service will be held Tuesday at 11am, with Pastor Bill Anzevino officiating.
Private burial will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
