Eugene DeMarco Obituary

Eugene J. “Pudge” DeMarco, Jr., age 72 of Chippewa Twp. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 29, 2023, with his beloved wife, Susan, and his sweet Oliver by his side.

Pudge was born on February 18, 1951 in New Brighton to the late Eugene J. DeMarco and Virginia Saibeni DeMarco.  He was a graduate of New Brighton High School class of 1969, and Geneva College class of 1973.  Pudge joined Painters’ Local Union #530 and later joined Laborers’ Local Union #833 where he worked on numerous outages at various Power Plants until his retirement.  Pudge was a natural athlete and during his early years excelled in football, baseball, and basketball.  He remained an avid sports enthusiast his entire life.  Among his many interests, Pudge was a voracious reader.  He also enjoyed a good game of Bocce, playing cards (and winning) and trips to the beach.

Although Pudge could be quiet and reserved, he had a quick wit and dry sense of humor.  He had a heart of gold and was always happy lending a helping hand to anyone.  Pudge’s devotion to his family and friends was simply immeasurable.  Pudge had a deep faith and was a member of Holy Family Church, Our Lady of the Valley Parish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James “Cuddy” DeMarco.

Pudge will be deeply missed by his wife, Susan (Gacesa) DeMarco and his sweet buddy, Oliver, mother-in-law, Pearl Gacesa, New Brighton, sisters-in-law, Nanci (Dan) Barrett, Rochester and Sandy Gacesa, Beaver; and brother, Nick (Linda) Bilotto, nieces, Tori Barrett and Nicole Darrah, nephews, Steve Barrett and James (Hannah) Yaria, along with great nieces, Sydni and Madison, also numerous cousins and cherished friends.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm, in the J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave, New Brighton, and Thursday from 9 until prayers at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, at 10am, at Holy Family Church, Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 525 7th Ave., New Brighton.

Susan would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all family, friends and neighbors who lovingly gave their support and never-ending prayers during Pudge’s two-year courageous battle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Pudge’s memory, to American Lung Association, 810 River Ave. #140, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, or Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
