Frederick (Fred) William Rogers, 76, of Baden, born and raised in New Brighton, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at St. Barnabas-Beaver Meadows, Brighton Township, Beaver with his loving wife at his side.
Fred was born on November 15, 1945, in New Brighton. He was the son of Francis J. & Theresa (Pessina)Rogers.
After graduating from New Brighton High School class of 1963, he began an electrician apprenticeship and continued working for Babcock & Wilcox for 23 years. He then worked in the Maintenance Department for the New Brighton School District and retired after 17 years of service.
Fred enjoyed golfing, bowling, building puzzles and Legos. He was an avid Pittsburgh & New Brighton sports fan. He loved all sweets, but especially chocolate chip cookies & chocolate milkshakes. Fred liked spending time with friends whether sharing a meal or attending events. Most of all he was a proud husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years Martha (Olayer) Rogers, his daughter Shannon Rogers Spratt and son-in-law Joseph “Zep” Spratt and his pride and joy grandson Jameson Miles Spratt, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Francis in 1957, his brother Donald in 1956, and his mother Theresa in 2012.
Friends will be received for a memorial visitation Friday, from 4-7, in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave., New Brighton. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10am, in the Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Holy Family, with Fred’s cousin Father Tom Kredel officiating.
