JoAnne Mujwit, born August 10, 1931, died on September 23, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Katherine Harris, and loving wife of Robert Mujwit from 1952 until his death in 2011.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, JoAnne was predeceased by two sons- in -law, Dave Podbielski and Sam Vucelich, and a grandson, Joshua Thomas Podbielski.
JoAnne is survived by her five children: Dianne (John) Pinchotti, Bobbie Jo Vucelich, Karen Kay Podbielski, Lisa (Joe) Signore, and Joseph (Lynde) Mujwit, grandchildren, Mark (Christina) Pinchotti, Gina (Justin) Ellis, Allie (Kevin) Taggart, Sam Vucelich, Alex (Erica) Vucelich, Mike Vucelich, Bekah (Matt) Bauer, Andy (Amy) Podbielski, Steve (Julia) Podbielski, Abby Signore, Mario (Cheryl) Signore, Grace (Cory) Ostach, MaryKate (Adam) Robinson, Chloe Mujwit, Mitch Mujwit, and 16 great grandchildren.
Having attended college at Indiana State College and Mount Mercy, JoAnne taught preschool at the Easter Seal Society for many years. She had a lifelong love for all of her students.
JoAnne had boundless energy and served her church and her community through numerous volunteer positions. Until her last breath, she never lost hope that she could play another round of golf. Jo was passionate about everything she did and deeply grateful for the blessings of family and the love of her faithful friends.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. in J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton. Prayers will be held at 10:30a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley, Holy Family Church, with Father Tom Kredel, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
In lieu of flowers JoAnne has requested that any memorial donations be sent to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in honor of her former students.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staffs of Life Beaver County, Beaver Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and Three Oaks Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.
