John F. Venn Sr., 84, departed this earthly life on January 23, 2020, following a long battle with cancer.
Born September 29, 1935, he was the second child born to the late John "Jack" and Annabelle (Jarrett) Venn of Rochester. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving as a proud member of the 187th (Rakkasan) Airborne Regiment. John was involved in many retail businesses in Beaver County over the last 60 years. He found great joy in being outdoors, hiking the Allegheny National Forest, fishing and golfing. He will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois Ann (Douds) Venn; five children, John (Carolyn) Venn, Carol (Bernie) Welsh, Aaron (Linda) Venn, Mimi (Mark) Rusnak and Mary (Dave) Bertko. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Lucas, Tori, and Christopher Venn and Katie Matthias; a great grandson, Uriah; his brothers, Chuck Venn, Maryland; Bob (Linda) Venn, Daugherty Twp., and Tom (Lorraine) Venn, Colorado; sister, Judy Carmon, Beaver Falls and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com. Additional viewing will be held Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Rev. Quincey Townsell, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Veteran Administration, 4100 Aliquippa Street, Pittsburgh, Pa 15240.
Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. to provide full military honors for John.
