John Winich, 87, of Daugherty Twp., passes away Tuesday December 7, 2021 at Heritage Valley Sewickley.
Born June 5, 1934 in New Brighton a son of the late Peter and Dorothy Winich. He was retired from Pittsburgh Tubular Shafting, Rochester Twp. and had also worked for the former Hydril Tubular Steel where he was a lathe operator. He was veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife Ethel J. (Householder) Winich, who he married April 15, 1961, one son Greg (Debra) Winich, three daughters Kathy (Rick) Craig, Dorothy (John) McLellan and Mellisa (Kevin) Whipple, six grandchildren Brad (Jen Fogerson) Craig, Jim (Samantha) Craig, Justine McLellan, Emma and Adam Whipple and Michael (Mary Hollingsworth) Osman, two great grandchildren Evan and Henry John.
In addition to his mother and father he was preceded in death by four step-brothers Paul, Jim, Brownie and Tom Wandeck.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton and Monday from 10:00am until time of funeral at 11:00am with Pastor John Fanella of St. John (Burry’s) Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton.
In lieu of the flowers the family wish memorials be made in his name to St. John (Burry’s) Church Youth Program, c/o 1853 Rt. 68, Rochester, PA 15074.
