Joseph Tooch Obituary

Joseph R. Tooch, 91, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, surrounded by loving family at his home.

Born in Rochester on August 15, 1928, he was the youngest son of the late Anthony and Nicolena (Ricardelli) Tooch. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

After serving in the US Air National Guard, he worked another 46 years at Valspar before retiring. In his early years, he was a member of a band named “The Feather Merchants,” where he played the mandolin and banjo, which he learned by ear. He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman, and bowler. He enjoyed playing cards, scratching off tickets with a lucky dime, and going to the casino with his family.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joanne (Snowden), children and their spouses Richard (Linda) Tooch, John (Doreen) Tooch, and Beth (Randy) Bates, as well as his six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his kindness and quick wit.

To Patty, Dan, Dr. Christou, Dr. Miller, Sue, and all of the other doctors, nurses and staff at Allegheny Health Network Cancer Center—thank you for your loving care.

Per Joseph’s wishes, there will be no services. Private interment will take place at Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Joseph’s name.
