Karen Ann “Cookie” Getz, 81, of New Brighton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at home.
Born June 3, 1941, in Uniontown, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Ann (Bryner) Stefko. She was a homemaker who helped raise generations of children. “Cookie” loved crossword puzzles, feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels, watching Animal Planet and other shows, such as The First 48. She will be remembered for her ham gravy. She enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing her love with them.
Surviving are her daughters, Tonya Yeager and Dusty Yeager, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially the three great-grandchildren she was closest with, Da’Nayja, Dayjiana, and Daniya; sister Rose Hugney, and her close friends Carol and Jeff.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis L. Young, daughters, Tammy Chenevert and Shonna Ruskin, and her brother and sisters.
Friends will be received Saturday from 5pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 7pm, in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave., New Brighton, with Pastor Reon Nesmith officiating.
