Margaret M. “Peggy” (Murphy) McCloskey, 88, of Beaver, formerly of New Brighton, passed away Friday April 29, 2022 at Rochester Manor.
Born May 15, 1933 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Patrick and Nora Murphy. She was retired from the former Geriatric Center, Brighton Twp., where she was an admissions clerk and was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Holy Family Church.
In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald McCloskey Sr. (2011), one daughter Kathleen Thompson (2005), and one grandson Preston Thompson (2016); two sisters: Anna Marie Murphy (2006) and Kathleen Stern (2007); eight brothers: Martin J. Murphy (1986), Thomas P. Murphy (1944), Eugene J. Murphy (1976), James V. Murphy (1982), John L. Murphy (2000), William “Rege” Murphy (2000), Joseph E. Murphy (2019), and Edward P. Murphy (2019).
She is survived by two daughters: Peggy (Corky) Croft, Pittsburgh and Eileen (Daniel) Madgar, New Brighton; one son: Ronald (Marianne) McCloskey Jr., Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren: Kassie (Sean) Thompson, Michael and Jeffery Tallon, Annamarie Thompson, Dominic and Nathan Cardosi, Joshua and Connor Madgar; three great-grandchildren: Wesley, Abby and Khloe; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, where prayer will also be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. This will be followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Holy Family Church, 521 7th Avenue, New Brighton.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum, Rochester.
