Marlin 'Jack' Jackson Sinclair
North Sewickley Township
Marlin "Jack" Jackson Sinclair, of North Sewickley Township, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 84.
Born in New Kensington on April 8, 1936, Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Always faithful, he proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine from 1954-1957. Frequently described as a "character," Jack was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and the uncanny ability to make a person feel known in a matter of moments. At every family outing, there would inevitably be a moment where one would wonder where Jack was, only to see him caught up in conversation with someone he had just met as if they had been friends for years. He loved his family deeply, and they will dearly miss the annual "happy birthday" serenades, the "watch this" looks he would give before playfully stirring up trouble, and the constant, unwavering support he provided to all he loved. A carpenter by trade, Jack could often be found in his shop, creating and bringing to life each and every new idea or project he could think of. He also cultivated an expansive garden, and enjoyed spending time tending his "kingdom."
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Stewart and Clara Sinclair; infant twin brothers; sister, Mary Alice Thompson; and brother, Ronald Sinclair.
Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Lorene Sinclair; his daughters, Beth (Phil) McCarrick and Kris (Tom) Andrews; son, Dave (Laura) Surowka; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Jerri Sumner, Teddi Nolder, and Annabelle Gibson; brothers, Gig Sinclair, Skip (Reva) Sinclair, and Dan (Mardy) Sinclair; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private, family memorial was held and internment will be in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Good Samaritan Hospice for the compassionate care they provided for Jack.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's honor to VA Butler Healthcare at 353 N. Duffy Rd., Butler, PA 16001.
