William “Bill” C. Barnes, 89, of New Sewickley passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021.
Born August 12, 1931 in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Robert and Blanche Barnes.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife Marcella, mother and father-in-law Charles and Syvilla Jolley, brothers Robert (Rabbits) and Jack, his sisters-in-law, and his brothers-in-law.
Surviving is his son, Wm. (Karen) Barnes Jr., New Brighton; daughter, Cindy (Bob) Frank, Freedom; grandchildren, Joseph, Kristin, and Jacob Barnes, Merissa (Sean) O’Reilly and Emily (Jay) Frank; step-granddaughter Sandra Wakeley; step great-granddaughter, Audrey Wakeley; two sisters Janet Felo, Freedom; Carole Kirschler, Allison Park; sister-in-law, Claudette Jolley, Coudersport; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Bill was a retired coupling inspector at Armco. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW and Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman. Bill enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing at his camp. He was a prize-winning gardener and won many ribbons entering his fruit, vegetables, jelly, and maple syrup at the Big Knob Fair. Bill was a man of many talents. He loved cutting grass, birding, relocating snakes, listening to music, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. As Dad would always say, have a shot and a beer.
Friends will be received Friday from 10 until the time of service at Noon, in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave, New Brighton, with Pastor Donald MacNeil officiating, www.jjsprattfh.com. A military service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:30.
The family asks that guests wear masks during the visitation and service.
The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Hospice for the care of their father.
