William H. “Bill” Gaus, age 70, of Rochester, passed away at his home on Friday, June 2, 2023, after an extended illness.
Born in Rochester on January 6, 1953, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Sweesy) Gaus.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Betty Stephens.
After over thirty years of outstanding service as a custodian for the New Brighton Area School District, Bill retired in 2018. As anyone who knew him could tell you, his two biggest obsessions in life were playing the PA Lottery and driving his treasured 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo.
Bill is survived by his cherished son, John Gaus, the light of his life, and John’s mother, Tina Boggs, both of Rochester; his loving companion, Melanie Suman, of Rochester; his two brothers, Kenny (Diane) Gaus and Eddie Gaus, both of Monaca; and his four sisters, Peggy Monnich, Alice Johnson, and Marggie Gaus, all of Monaca, and Mary Kaye Gaus of Gallatin, TN.
He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as two very special friends, Robin and Kenny Carpenter of New Brighton.
Bill wanted to be cremated. As per his wishes, there will be no public visitation or services.
Professional arrangements have been entrusted to J&J Spratt Funeral Home in New Brighton. To share online condolences, please visit www.jjsprattfh.com.
